Policies and Care

I enjoy designing and fabricating my jewelry by hand...the joy is in the journey.

I begin with square wire in sterling silver or gold, bend it into shape, and solder the ends for a continuous frame.  That frame is then soldered to a sterling silver back piece which I hand cut, file, and polish.  For a few designs I make originals in sterling silver, oversee the casting process, finish polish the pieces by hand, and then I inlay the micro-mosaics. Each piece is hallmarked with a CDL jewelry maker's mark, formed into shape, and then the micro-mosaic process begins.

With a pair of fine point tweezers, each bead is carefully laid into the frame--embedded in epoxy--standing on its edge so the hole is not visible.  Once the entire frame is filled with a beaded design, the epoxy is allowed to cure, and a final layer of colored tile grout is added to stabilize the micro-mosaic.  Once cured this finish is water resistant and durable.  But remember, these materials are glass and grout; the jewelry should never be struck on a hard surface, twisted, pinched, bent or impacted (hit) in any way.

When purchasing a cuff bracelet, you'll want to take measurements of your wrist to be sure it will fit as it cannot be re-sized. Click here for a short video on wearing cuffs. Contact me if you have questions or concerns; I stand behind the quality of my work.

Care
Always put your jewelry on last, and after wearing, wipe jewelry with a clean, soft cloth to remove oils and light tarnish. Periodically, you may clean the jewelry with mild soap, cool water and a soft bristle brush, but do not immerse in water, and dry well. Do not wear micro-mosaics while swimming or showering. The metal portions may be cleaned with a polishing cloth impregnated with polishing compound, being careful not to get the compound on the micro-mosaics as it may discolor them.
