Sterling silver cast dragonfly with micro-mosaic wings on 24" gemstone necklace of turquoise, coral, apatite and moonstone with a hand-forged clasp.
One summer my mom sent me to Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts while she was busy packing up our home and moving us to a new rental; I was incredibly lucky to have that experience, but I came from a different background than my roommates and was picked on a lot. I called my mom with my homesickness, and she told me about the new house--that when I got back I would be able to sit by the pond and watch the dragonflies darting in the grass. She painted such a great picture of home for me that I made a series of monoprints with dragonflies in them, which she still has hanging on her wall. Ever since then, it is a symbol of home and of all the wonderful things my mom has done for me. When I want to remind her that she is appreciated and loved, I send her a note or something small with a dragonfly on it. I made this dragonfly pendant for her, and I've incorporated it into my line of jewelry as a way of honoring our relationship.
